I thought prospective buyers might like to know these things.Download Now INTEL Q45Q43 EXPRESS CHIPSET LATEST DRIVER I'm not sure how much above, and haven't tried it.
#INTEL Q45 Q43 EXPRESS CHIPSET SPECS UPDATE#
Haven't tried 16Gb, but 8Gb of Mushkin 991587 seems to be doing well.Īlso, the update states that memory voltage can now be set above 1.8v. 507 in late August 2009, and the board packaging stated support for 16Gb. 506 the DQ45CB now supports 16Gb of onboard memory. Overall Review: According to the Desktop Board Specification Update of July 2009 at the Intel site, as of rev. Documentation is not bad, but will not hold your hand.
#INTEL Q45 Q43 EXPRESS CHIPSET SPECS MANUAL#
The board comes packaged with a nice big foldout picture guide, as another review stated, and a very thoughtful set of stickers (including a large one of the board layout), but no manual as such (there is one at the Intel site). Will post another review when I have more of substance to write.Ĭons: Not much of a con, but if you are planning to get this board, go the Intel site and get the docs and updates beforehand. Haven't really done much with it yet bought it to try to run BSD (at which I am very new), but wanted to mention a recent upgrade of the board. Most recent BIOS is barely a month old, which I consider evidence of good support.

Powered up fine, BIOS upgrade (via CD) was easy, but I had the CD ready at build. Make it available on high performance MB's too! You can even remotely boot into BIOS config.Ĭonfiguration of the AMT functionality is now separated out into it's own boot time BIOS config program, accessed via CTRL-P at boot time.
#INTEL Q45 Q43 EXPRESS CHIPSET SPECS SERIAL#
It could be half way across the country, and even if the OS's network interface is down, you can still remotely power cycle, install an OS using remote IDE redirection, remotely redirect TCP ports, and log in to a text based console, as if you were connected via a local serial connection (handled OoB over the network). Imagine you setup a Linux based 'server' appliance of some sort using this board. Especially with Linux, this allows you to create some neat black box appliances for home use. I wish vPro AMT was supported on more motherboards.

Overall Review: The board is very promising, and aside from the less than full remote use of vPro/iAMT I've seen for now, is solid in its role as a generic motherboard. The fix is easy enough, download the latest e1000e linux kernel driver. This is really not a problem with the board itself, but out of the box, no Linux distribution I tested detects the built in network adapter. I am running Linux on both boards right now(DQ35JO and DQ45CB), but will try out Windows soon on this board to see if the Windows AMT Management Drivers help me establish a remote out of band connection. So I can't take of much for the fact that there is a problem using the DTK with the board less than two weeks after the board hit full market release. It's contains a useful set of tools, but, from what I understand, is really intended more as a proof of concept. Intel's Manageability DTK is really not targeted for production use. I have no such problem with the Q35 board in the chassis next to this one. I may post more after I've had more time with this board.Ĭons: For some reason, Intel's latest DTK under Windows is giving me trouble when I try to make an out of band serial connection to the board over my local network. I haven't really pushed the envelope on this yet. The new built-in graphics using Intel's GMA4500 is supposed to have improved HD display performance/support.

If you need to boot from DVD or CD, you will need a cheap SATA drive, or an IDE add-on card. Also, IDE be gone, now this is purely an SATA board. Over the previous (Q35 based( incarnation of this board, the board has changed the boards built in second graphics output from VGA to DVI-I (but a VGA adapter dongle is included for the DVI-I port). The DQ35JO's management firmware is running AMT 3.2.1. I also have the predecessor to this board, the DQ35JO. AMT 5.0 is the latest revision, and potentially has some useful features, if you care about that sort of thing. Supports Intel vPro and Intel's Active Management Technology (AMT 5.0).
